As a child who grew up in the
foothills outside of Denver, I learned the importance of following the
path. I had a path when I walked
to school. (Yes, we walked to
school even in the snow, rain and heat.)
There was a path to my friends houses, and even a path to the bathrooms
at the community ski hill.
These paths were all created long
before I was walking, by people who were older and more experienced. Each path had a beginning, an end and
most importantly, a destination.
Several months ago, I was
preparing teaching tools for Faithful Beginnings and one of them was about
following God’s path. This sent me
on a search though the Bible to see what God said about paths.
Following a path is an
important Biblical truth. It is mentioned hundreds of time in the Bible.
In my quick research I learned that there are mentions of
straight paths, crooked paths, rocky paths, evil paths, a path to the Tree of
Life, and a even a path through the parted Red Sea.
Psalm 16:11 is one of my
lifetime verses that has guided me to make decisions and given me confidence on
the paths that I have chosen.
“You will make know to me the
path of life. In your presence,
there is fullness of joy. At your
right hand there are pleasures forever. “
Do you understand what this is saying?
God will make known to me the
path for my life. He doesn’t keep
His guidance to me a secret. He
makes it known and if I am looking, I will find it.
If I follow God’s path, the
promise is that I will find joy, but not just joy, but full joy. If I stay in God’s presence, He will
give to me pleasures forever.
What a motivating word for
seeking God’s path!
“Whether you turn to the
right or the left, you will hear a voice saying, “This is the road. Now follow
it.”
Isaiah 30:21
Happy Trails!!
